The Senior Band Director of a school system’s Elementary, Middle and High School Band Booster Club was looking for a way to raise money to offset the cost of the Band Jackets.

Solution:

We created a Custom Critter tm Beanie School Mascot that the Band members sold.

Results:

A large portion of the cost of the band uniforms were offset by the mascot sales.

Features to look for in custom caps:

100% cotton washed twill
Unstructured 6-panel construction
Low profile crown design

Structured caps with a fused buckram have a stiff (standup) hat. This type of hat most resembles a “truckers hat”. The only difference being that a truckers hat has a mesh back for breathability.

Most people like the relaxed low profile (unstructured) hats. They have 6 panels of fabric sewn together that make up the crown of the hat. Embroidering onto these hats can be done on the front, back and side of the hat. If there is a need for the hat to be sewn on the bill, it can be done, however, the fabric must be embroidered prior to the construction of the hat. The minimum order for this type of work is a very high quantity.

Regarding screen printing onto custom caps, a 5 panel hat is preferable. Five pieces of fabric are sewn together to construct the top portion of the hat thus eliminating a seam in the middle front area of the hat. This is crucial so that the screen imprint lays down flat onto the hat fabric and does not have to imprint over a sewn portion of the cap.

A custom designed baseball cap can be created as well. Some examples of this would be flame-like design sewn along the sides of the cap, 3-dimensional embroidery, distressed fabric, liquid metal-like plastisol inks to create a metal-like look, sewn on patches and attached medallions, reflective stripes, custom camo designs, sandwich bill fabric, taped seams inside the hat with a repeating message. An eco friendly fabric has just been introduced to the headwear industry- custom hats made from Bamboo. The possibilities are endless. Embroidered caps and hats can eventually become collector’s items or can become a signature design for a special event or cause or association.
